Two Quick Unrelated Stories of Interest.......
Due to time constraints, I am unable to provide an appropriate synopsis for the two following stories, but you should still get the gist. For the first story, I must admit that I am somewhat indifferent about the news-the Uncle Ben character has received a promotion from the Mars corporation. If anyone is familiar with Uncle Ben's rice, a caricature of a servile, elderly African-American male was used as the product's mascot. Now that we're in the 21st century, someone has finally decided that such a figure might not rank highly with the PC police. So from this point going forward, Uncle Ben is now a well dressed corporate executive as opposed to being a manservant to a well dressed corporate executive. Hooray. And BET's Spring Bling, I suspect will be broadcast in the next few weeks.
The second story, I actually found out from Chris Chamber's Nat Turner's Revenge blog. It appears that the actress that played one of my favorite sci-fi characters, T'Pol of Star Trek: Enterprise (the very attractive Jolene Blalock) is finding herself in a bit of controversy. It appears that a movie has just been released (filmed prior to her Trek role) in which she is in dark make-up (Angelina Jolie style) portraying a woman of color. The cliffhanger is....Blalock recently disclosed that she is indeed of part African-American parentage. Whew....For more information relating to both stories, click on the links below.
