I was prompted to tackle the good girl attraction to bad boy phenomenon after reading about the murder of Boitumelo McCallum-allegedly at the hands of a thuggish paramour. For those who may be unfamiliar with this story, McCallum, a beautiful and promising 20-year-old young woman (the daughter of two NYU professors) was found bloodied and strangled in her apartment approximately a week ago. Upon further investigation, a jealous boyfriend with a criminal record appears to be the lead suspect in this heinous act.
What is even more distressing is that if one were to believe the latest reports regarding McCallum's unfaithfulness (the reason for raising her boyfriend's ire), she was also involved with yet another futureless and criminal-minded young man. So as usual we will attempt to utilize our analytical scalpels and attempt to do surgery on the causes of good girl/bad boy attraction on our next Afronerd Radio broadcast.
