Who would have thought that another stellar, double feature broadcast is in the works at Afronerdradio.com? Starting at 6pm sharp, join your "Podcast Avengers" on The Comic Shoppe as they use their "mutant" analytical abilities to discuss the following topics: their thoughts regarding Sunday night's Robot Chicken (from cable's Adult Swim channel) DC Comics episode; Blade Runner's 30th anniversary DVD release-how many re-releases of a classic movie can the consumer tolerate? ; and speaking of Blade Runner, what can be expected from the proposed sequel? A female lead? the return of Harrison Ford? or the resurrection of Sean Young?; continuing from last week's show-it appears that a female version of The Expendables is in the works (but actress, Michelle Rodriguez says she's not worthy) and lastly, does the latest time travel sci-fi thriller, Looper, starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon Levitt have the chops?
And then there's Afronerd featuring Captain Kirk airing "next door" at 7pm. Join Dburt and The Captain as they welcome filmmaker Justin Simien to discuss his upcoming cinematic effort, Dear White People (trailer, above). DWP is a provocative look at the frictional relationship between Black and White (including INTRAracial conflicts) students attending a fictional predominantly White northeastern university. After the interview segment, there still more for the discourse! Additional topics (time constraints, notwithstanding) on the table are: a recent song released by rapper, Nicki Minaj, cryptically gives the impression that she is a Mitt Romney supporter; Rush Limbaugh believes that President Obama isn't authentically Black because of his lack of "slave blood" (and Limbaugh is still employed?) and lastly, noted author, Philip Roth (The Human Stain) reminds us why you just can't trust Wikipedia .
