Props and Kudos go to Sergio Mims of Ebony/Jet Online for hipping us to this next questionable image faux pas. The above action figure is a Dunkey doll which, of course, depicts a simian in a basketball uniform. The doll, (created by the Korean manufacturer Cool Rain), has been construed as being a slight toward African-American imagery. What makes this more troubling centers on the contention that there has been a history of toys and/or artifacts coming from Asia that appear to possess a racial bent. Again, we haven't seen that much of a funk being made about these particular toys. Are they racist? Or is this much ado about nothing?
