We really do try to knock them out of the park as it relates to our interviews. Case in point-the inimitable Marva Collins is scheduled to pay a visit to our little ol' show! I readily confess that Ms. Collins is one of my idols and it will be an honor to converse with her regarding the past, present and future state of education in communities of color. If anyone is familiar with Ms. Collins story, she is the founder of the Westside Preparatory School located in Chicago, Illinois. Unfortunately, the school is now defunct (which we will address on Sunday) but Westside came into prominence because of Ms. Collins' teaching methods enabling her to instruct children deemed unteachable. We're talking about students that the educational system initially banished to the remedial nether regions but under Ms. Collins' tutelage, these selfsame children ultimately became Ivy League caliber candidates. So please feel free to stop by this special broadcast as Mr. Starks and I pick the brain of a legend.
